Build voxel art on iPhone and iPad

Sugrvoxel lets you add, paint, and remove voxels, organize them in layers, and play frame animations. Projects are local .sugr files, so you can work offline without an account.

Can children use Sugrvoxel to learn 3D modeling?

You can open it and start building, with few steps and no account, and you can drag out a box to fill it. Children can start learning 3D modeling with these blocks. Touch controls are designed for phones and tablets: a two-finger tap undoes one step, and three fingers redo. It is a one-time purchase, with no subscription. You can export an STL file for 3D printing.

  • Open the app and build. There is no account, and you can drag out a box to fill it.
  • A two-finger tap undoes one step. Three fingers redo.
  • Touch is designed for a finger or Apple Pencil, close to mobile painting apps such as Procreate.
  • One purchase, with no subscription.
  • Export STL and use it for 3D printing.

How do you build in Sugrvoxel?

You add, remove, or paint voxels with a brush, and you can drag a box to fill it in one gesture.

  • Add, Remove, and Paint modes, with a brush radius.
  • Box fill: drag out a box and fill it with blocks.
  • One finger orbits the camera, two fingers pan, and a pinch zooms.
  • Two-finger tap undoes one step, and a two-finger hold keeps undoing. Three fingers redo in the same way.
  • Hold a solid voxel to sample its color. Drag the current color to fill connected voxels of the same color.
  • An Apple Pencil-only brush option keeps fingers from painting by accident.
  • A corner cube shows the camera angle.

Can you organize a model in layers?

Yes. Layers keep parts of a model separate so you can show, hide, and mask them.

  • Add layers and choose which layer you are editing.
  • Show or hide a layer, and fade it with a mask.
  • Pick colors from a palette or an HSV color picker, including a long-press eyedropper.

Can Sugrvoxel make animations?

Yes. Sugrvoxel has frame animation and exports GIF, PNG sequences, and MP4.

  • Build a clip from frames on the device.
  • Play the frames in the editor before you export.

Where are projects stored?

Projects stay on the device as .sugr files. You can create, open, duplicate, and manage them without an account.

  • Import a project from your on-device library.
  • Resize the grid while keeping the model. That resize can be undone.
  • Set a physical voxel size in millimeters or centimeters.

What does the built-in renderer do?

Sugrvoxel previews the model with lightweight lighting and can save a photo of that view.

  • Adjust light, ambient color, and the background.
  • Turn on wireframe, edge outlines, world axes, and the world grid.
  • Add depth of field and noise.
  • Save a photo of the current view, or of the front, top, or right side.
